HUGE TOWER WRECKED
BUILT FOR SALVAGE WORK.
MYSTERIOUS EXPLOSION.
(United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 1.10 a.m.) Amsterdam, August 28. A mysterious explosion wrecked a huge tower erected at Terachelling for the salvage of £2,000,000 worth of gold and silver from the wreck of the ship Lutine which was sunk in 1799. It is believed that the outrage was committed by persons wishing to salvage the cargo themselves, as the directors of the salvage company received letters warning them not to carry on the work. M. Beckers, an engineer and designer of the town, says he will construct another to salve the gold, even at the cost of his life.
