WOMEN’S DIVISION

THORNBURY BRANCH. (From Our Correspondent.) The Thombury Hall was well filled on the 22nd June for the concert and dance held by the W.D.F.U. to raise funds. The division was fortunate in securing the help of Mr Petit’s Band for part of the programme, also for the dance. The concert opened with a play entitled “A Rest Cure,” by Mesdames Hamilton, L. Officer, Misses Gardiner, Carmichael and N. Fallow. This was very well received and reflects much credit on the performers. Miss Petit then favoured the audience with a dance. This was followed by items from Thornbury Band, Mr Cheyne and his doll Pat; the combined band, violin duet—Miss Nicholson and Mr Petit; songs, Mrs Henderson. The programme concluded with a play entitled “Between the soup and the savoury” by Mesdames Buchan, Anderson and Miss M. McLean. This also caused much amusement and was very well acted. Supper was then handed round and the floor cleared for dancing. The division has made a substantial profit and many thanks are due to Mr Petit and his band and also to those others who assisted with the dance music and to the local performers for their work.
