IDENTITY OF CHINESE. (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, June 15. Mr Justice Reed on Friday in the Supreme Court will be called on to decide whether a Chinese now in Mount Eden gaol is Willie Tong or Tai Sing. To-day the Judge heard an application for a writ of habeas, corpus and granted a rule nisi calling on the gaoler to produce the body of Willie Tong at the Court on Friday to show cause why he should be Last year a judgment was obtained against Tai Sing for a debt and in February the Magistrate fixed the penalty in default of payment at ten days’ imprisonment. It is now alleged that the papers were served on Tong, who took no notice of them until last month when, realizing the seriousness of the position, he applied for a rehearing. This was refused by the Magistrate on the ground that judgment had been obtained against Tai Sing. On Monday a Chinese who claims to be Tong, was imprisoned.
