ELECTRICITY RATES

REDUCTION IN WELLINGTON. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, June 15. The City Council to-night adopted, the recommendations of the Electricity and Tramways Committee to reduce the tariff for commercial electric lighting to fivepence per unit up to an assessed maximum of a penny halfpenny, and thereafter discount rate; domestic accounts to be increased from threepence to fourpence per unit, making the net rate fourpence per unit. The new rates will be the lowest in New Zealand, except for Christchurch, where the tariff is on a different basis.
