RESEARCH WORK

MARKETING BOARD’S GRANTS. A (Per United Press Association.) Christchurch, June 14. Allegations that the New Zealand Government with other Governments of the Empire, had been accepting grants for research work from the Empire Marketing Board without fulfilling the conditions under which the grants were made were reported to the committee of the Canterbury A. and P. Association to-day by Professor R. E. Alexander. It was stated that the Government had accepted grants from the board on condition that they be subsidized in New Zealand and the Government had failed to properly fulfil this condition. The meeting carried the following resolution: That the Government be asked to use every effort to retain the grants from the Empire Marketing Board by subsidizing the amounts spent in Dominion agricultural research, according to the conditions laid down by the board.
