“I am of the opinion that the sheep stocks on the Canterbury Plains are much smaller than they were a year ago,” said Mr J. Connolly, M.P. “It may be very difficult to purchase stock in the spring because of the drought last summer, and in view of the brighter prospects for sheep farmers, they should seriously consider the advisability of keeping their flocks in a healthy condition. It is reasonable to believe that the percentage of lambs this year will be much lower than last year.”
