SEND OFF DANCE. (From Our Correspondent.) On Friday evening, May 5, a send off dance was held in the Tihaka Hall for Mr W. H. Blakie, who is shortly leaving the district. Music for the dancing was supplied by Messrs Egerion and Fisher, while Mr Blakie supplied extras on the bagpipes. Amongst those present were Mesdames Maley, Dawson, Thompson. Broomhall, Martin, Misses Marshal, Kelland, Blakie (Ryal Bush), Sherriffs (2, Ryal Bush), Hodges (2), Woodward (2), Dawson, Wadsworth. Crengle (2), Martin, Wilkenson (2), Broomhall, Robinson, Dawson, Egeiton, Messrs Blakie (5), McCullum (Ryal Bush), Robinson, Dyet, Egerton (3), Fisher, Lapham (2), Cleaver (2), Blackmore (2), Woodward (2), Martin, Maley, Wadsworth, Thompson, Laurie, Mason, Kelland, Barnett, Shearing. Miss Blakie (Ryal Bush) is at present holidaying at Colac and Longwood with relations. Miss McLaughlan, of the local school staff, is at present on holidays. Miss M. Sullivan, who has been the guest of Mr and Mrs R. M. Sullivan, left for the north on Wednesday. Miss A. Cleaver, Drummond, visited Mr and Mrs J. Crengle last week. Mr and Mrs R. Sullivan and family left for Dunedin on Wednesday. Mr W H. Blakie spent a few days with Mr N. Garden, Orepuki, before returning to Invercargill. ... Mrs E. Devereux and family left for the Nokomai on Wednesday. Mrs Cooper, sen. (Invercargill) is holidaying with her sister, Mrs P. Devereux. Miss Stella Pearse, Wakapatu. is taO guest of Miss C. Dawson, Ward’s Road.
