COLAC BAY NOTES

The monthly meeting of the Colac Bay branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held on Thursday, the president (Mrs D. Wadsworth) presiding over an attendance of, 30 members. The following demonstrations and hints were given:—Dyed sheepskin mats (Mrs D. Wadsworth and Miss M. Kelland); baby’s mat made from lamb’s wool (Mrs Stick), hand-knitted purse (Miss E. Wadsworth); crochet supper cloth (Mrs G. E. Williams); parcel bag made from dyed sugar bag (Mrs D. Wadsworth). Nurse Bailey gave a demonstration on first aid which was appreciated by all. Mrs J. Pont moved a vote of thanks to Nurse Bailey, which was carried out in the usual manner. A meeting of the Colac Basketball Club was held on Wednesday afternoon. Miss L. Ogren was re-elected as president, Mrs J. Crengle chairwoman and Miss T. Egerton secretary and treasurer. The following committee was appointed: Mesdames Shore, Goodwillie and Kitto. Practice days were fixed for Tuesdays and Saturdays. At the weekly euchre tournament the prize winners were: Ladies, Miss T. Egerton; men, Mr H. Hinton. Mr, T. Cleaver won the hidden number prize.
In a letter received by a local resident from the mutton bird islands, it was stated that very rough weather had been experienced since landing at the islands and that the birds were very poor this season.
