PROFITABLE YEAR

AMERICAN DRUG COMPANY. One of the drug concerns which increased its profits in America during 1931 was E. R. Squibb and Sons. “As a result of consistent newspaper advertising,” asserts an official of the company, “net earnings increased by approximately 10 per cent.” A similar concern, the Vick Chemical Company, which increased its newspaper advertising expenditure by 50 per cent., realized an increase in sales of Vick’s Vapo Rub during 1931, the results of which were asserted by the president of the company to be “the best in our long history.” Two other businesses which rose to higher profits through increased newspaper advertising were the Noxema Pharmacal Company and the Norwich Pharmacal Company.
