FARMERS’ UNION
INVERCARGILL BRANCH. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Invercargill Branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union was held yesterday afternoon when Mr C. S. Stevens presided over an attendance of Messrs J. Sheppard, W. Ford, J. Gray and J. A. Ferguson. Tn moving the adoption of the bal-anco-sheet the chairman said that the position was very satisfactory. Two new branches had been formed and assisted, but in spite of that the credit balance had increased during the year by £5 18/-. The balance-sheet was adopted. The secretary reported that, the branch membership had been considerably reduced by the formation of the Makarewa and Ryal Bush branches, but there was still a possibility of securing more members in the vicinity of Invercargill. The chairman said he had considered it might be advisable to close the branch, but in view of the successful year he thought they would be wise to carry on. The following office-bearers were reelected: President, Mr C. S. Stevens; vice-presidents, Messrs A. W. Clark and J. Gray; committee, the president, vice-presidents and Mr T. A. Stevens; delegate to the Southland Executive, Mr C. S. Stevens; delegate to the provincial conference, Mr C. S. Stevens.
