DEATH ON FISHING TRIP. (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, April 22. Frank Taylor, aged 16, who came to Auckland from Nelson recently and was staying with friends at Henderson, left yesterday morning to sail a small boat downstream to fish. He was missing last night and after an all-night search he was found dead in the boat, of which the mast had carried away and the rigging was tangled. STRUCK BY TRAM. DEATH OF PEDESTRIAN. {Per United Press Association.) Wellington, April 22. Fatal injuries to the head were sustained by Mrs Mildred Pippard, of 48 Ellice street, when knocked down by a tram in Kent terrace at 8.35 p.m. yesterday. Frederick Doell, aged 50, of 38 Wallace street, who was accompanying Mrs Pippard was also knocked down by the tram and sustained a fractured right arm, abrasions to the head and shock. The tram was travelling from Lyall Bay to Lambton station and the accident took place a few yards past the Elizabeth street points. It is understood Mrs Pippard and Doell had come down Elizabeth street and were crossing over to Bambridge terrace. When the accident occurred rain was falling and it was stated visibility at the time was poor. PEDESTRIAN KILLED. (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, April 23. Fatal injuries were received by Henry Ernest Bond, aged 33, a labourer, single, shortly after 6 p.m. on Saturday, when he was knocked down by a motor car while crossing Symonds street and run over by a following car. Bond received grave head and abdominal injuries and died half an hour later.
