LIGHTWEIGHT BOXING

NEW AUSTRALIAN CHAMPION. KELSO DEFEATS DELANEY. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 12.50 a.m.) Sydney, April 3. The lightweight boxing championship changed hands at the Stadium to-night, Jimmy Kelso (9.81) outpointing Bobby Delaney (9.7?), the holder, in a bout of 15 rounds. It was a thrilling, fast contest and the big crowd was electrified. Delaney was completely outgeneralled by Kelso’s smart tactics, his elusiveness and his ability to land right and left crosses to the face and body just when he wanted. Delaney was seen to better purpose in the clinches, but w r as rather inclined to hang on, .for which he was warned.
