GAMES AT WINTON. CENTRAL v. WINTON. (From Our Correspondent). Under fine weather conditions at Winton on Wednesday evening, the first inter-club game between the two local clubs—Central and Winton—was played on the former’s green and ended in a draw—the scores being 109 all. The green was on the bare side, and has been greatly affected by the dry spell. At the conclusion of play Mr Bradley, president of the Winton Club, thanked the Central members for the enjoyable game that had been provided. Mr F. Tilley, president of the Central Club, suitably replied. The scores were as follows:—
Rose Bowl Competition. Under gloriously fine weather conditions on Thursday afternoon, a match between a rink of Winton and a rink of Central ladies, in the Rose Bowl competition was played on the former club’s green. The contest was an exceedingly close one, the Central ladies continuing their unbroken run of successes and running out the victors by a two-point margin. The Central rink was always behind in the scoring, it being only on the second last head that they took the lead at all. Winton commenced well and lead s—l at the 4th head and this margin was further increased to 11—6 on the 9th. By scoring on the next three heads Central decreased the margin to one, the scores being 11-10 against them on the 12th. The scores were brought to 12 all on the 15th, but on the 18th with the scores 15—13, Winton enjoyed a two point lead. Central drew level, on the 19th and by scoring singles on the last two heads gained a narrow victory. Details are as follows:—
LADIES’ MATCH. A • match was • played on Thursday evening between the Te Rangi and the Waikiwi Ladies’ Bowling Clubs on the Waikiwi green and resulted in a win for Te Rangi by 24 points. Details are as follows:—
