THE KING’S PIE

IRISH VICEROY’S HISTORICAL GIFT. “BUCKLEY’S CHANCE” THIS YEAR. Dublin, December 3. Dublin is speculating on the attitude that will be adopted by the new Gov-ernor-General, Mr Donald Buckley, concerning the Christmas present of ‘four and twenty woodcocks baked in a pie’ that has been sent to the King of England by Irish Viceroys for the past 114 years. Messrs Healy and McNeill observed the custom, the pie, accompanied _by Christmas greetings, being delivered to the King by special courier, but it is considered that there is “Buckley s , Chance” of a pie being sent this year.
