FLYING IN THE FUTURE

1000 MILES AN HOUR. GERMAN AIRMAN’S PREDICTION. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) Sydney, October 29. In a speech at the Millions Club, the German aviator, Captain Bertram, said an aeroplane that would travel through space at the rate of 700 to 1000 miles an hour, and carry mails from Australia to Europe in nine or ten hours, is regarded as almost an accomplished fact. A plane constructed by Professor Junkers, called the stratoplane, was now ready for trial. This machine would mount 50,000 ft into the stratosphere and travel at a speed up to 1000 miles an hour.
