FARMERS’ UNION
DOMINION EXECUTIVE MEETS. OUTLOOK MOST SERIOUS. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, October 26. The executive of the Farmers’ Union met to-day and placed on record its appreciation of the services rendered by Sir Francis Boys of Christchurch who represented the union in an advisory capacity at Ottawa. Mr W. J. Polson recommended the setting up. of a permanent committee to deal with questions of national importance and said he would move at . a later stage in this direction. He said the outlook for'the coming season was most serious and the position was becoming such that farmers could not be blamed for demanding that further consideration should be given to them. Rural telephones were discussed and it was agreed the matter would probably right itself and the meeting decided to take no further action. A committee was set up to report on the subject of a central bank on the lines of the Niemeyer report. Mr Polson said the union should define its attitude before the matter was finalized by the Government.
