DARING BURGLARS

jewellery stolen. SEVERAL HOMES ENTERED. (Per United Press Association ) Christchurch, October 7. Several daring thefts from suburban homes and shops have occurred this week and it is estimated that since Monday night, jewellery valued at £350 has been stolen from five houses and one shop. The most audacious theft of the six occurred last evening when the home of Charles Purdie was entered while Mr Purdie was working in his lighted garden at nine o’clock. Jewels in the safe and a jewel cabinet worth £lOO were stolen. Jewellery worth £3O was also taken the same evening from the home of Mr S. C. Harris, St. Albans.
