DEATH OF INFANT

A GRAVE CHARGE FOLLOWS. (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, October 6. When an application was made today for bail for George Frederick Hewer, aged 39, described as a medical practitioner, who is in custody on a charge of unlawfully using an instrument on a woman, it was strongly opposed by the police. Detective-Ser-geant Kelly said an information had been laid against Hewer on a charge of murdering the woman’s child, which had died the day after its birth. The Magistrate said he would formally consider the application when Hewer was. charged with murder next week.
