STRIKES SETTLED
RELIEF AND FREEZING WORKERS. (Per United Press Association.) Hastings, October 6. Official announcements that the strike of the Hastings relief workers and the freezing workers strike have ended were made this morning. The relief workers struck three weeks ago last Tuesday as a protest against the altered terms of the No. 5 Scheme and a decision to return to work was made at a meeting this morning. The freezing'workers’ action was a strike only insofar as they had not begun work for the season, but had decided to decline work when it was offered on Monday last. They have now returned unconditionally. The men were at work this morning and the meat is now being loaded on the Tekoa at Napier.
