PROBLEM OF FINANCE.

The League’s supervisory committee anxiously reported that only _64 per cent, of the members’ liabilities had been paid, the Norwegian delegate, Mr Hambro, remarking that the League was heading for a financial crisis in 1933 if something was not done quickly. GERMANY’S DEFAULT MONEY FOR RUSSIAN TRADE. (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Berlin, September 24. Though Germany is partly responsible for the League’s financial worries by inability to remit outstanding contributions, leading German banks today arranged for £5,500,000 worth of credits to finance trade with Russia. The latest figures show that there arc 5,261,000 unemployed in Germany. A NEW MEMBER IRAK JOINS LEAGUE. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Geneva, September 24. The League Council voted terminating the British mandate over Irak and admitted Irak to the League. Several speakers paid a tribute to Britain’s guidance of Irak towards independence.
