KIRK-WINDEYER CUP NEW SOUTH WALES BEAT QUEENSLAND ALL MATCHES WON (United Press Assn—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 9.35 pan.) Sydney, June 14. Conditions were ideal for the first of the Kirk-Windeyer Cup matches at the Rose Bay links to-day. New South Wales proved too strong for Queensland, who were beaten by six rubbers to nil, New South Wales thus qualifying for the final against New Zealand on Wednesday and Thursday. Results: Foursomes. R. H. Bettington and R. J. Withycombe (New South Wales) beat T. Trude and T. Munro (Queensland), 3 up. J. Ferrier and G. Thompson (New South Wales) beat R. H. Cumming and G. Whatmore (Queensland), 4 up. Singles. Ferrier beat Cumming, 1 up. Bettington beat Munro, 7 up. Withycombe beat Trude, 4 up. Thompson beat Whatmore, 9 up. The games were all played out. The outstanding incident was Furrier's recovery against Cumming. The former’s form was disappointing in the early stages, his veteran opponent being three up at the turn. Ferrier was much steadier over the second nine holes, and after a great struggle managed to win on the last green. Subject to the likelihood of alteration in the New Zealand team, the draw for the foursomes over 36 holes to-morrow is: J. Ferrier and G. Thompson, v. J. P. Hornabrook and B. M. Silk; R. H. Bettington and R. J. Withycombe v. H. A. Black and H. D. Brinsden.
