‘TYPIST WANTED”-“PANDORA’S LEAP.”

To the Editor. Sir, —I beg to apply for the above post and shall be glad if “Slim Jim” will give my application his kindly consideration, though I fear that “Pandora” would be far better qualified to render him the assistance he requires. I have ever been an ardent admirer of “Slim Jim” and am delighted to find him coming on so rapidly—one day “LATIN, ’ then “GREEK” and “CLASSICAL MYTH OLOGY.” He will soon be blossoming out into Arabic or other little known languages. But what has happened to the “King's English? Eh? Been scrapped? Slim Jim” has evidently been looking up his classical mythology and I believe is fairly correct in his statement of Pandora's history. But was it through his great anxiety for “Fair Play” that he omitted the “soul” of such history ? I wonder why he omitted to mention that aft-er all else had been blown away there remained the glorious star of “HOPE”—“HOPE”—NEXT to “LOVE’—THE BRIGHTEST LIGHT IN THE CONSTELLATION OF HUMAN TREASURES!!!! Pandora was endowed by each of the Gods with a quality—some mostly to be desired, others which were considered necessary to complete that most beautiful and glorious of God’s creatures — “WOMAN.” We love them all the more for their naughty little tricks. Y ou, sir, know that we do. But now that we have touched upon this subject I must stop at once or goodness knows where we may get to. What a grand opportunity “Slim Jim” missed. Why, had he been a parson he could have given his congregation an hour and a half —ex tempore too, all would have stopped to listen to him —perhaps!— and he would have doubled the free-will offerings also perhaps!! Thanking you, sir,—l am, etc., “AL JEBRAEAL MAKA BALA.”
