"THIS INCUBUS”

THE LANG GOVERNMENT. PRIME MINISTER’S COMMENT. (United Press Assn. —By Telegraph—Copyright.) Sydney, January 19. In a speech at Sydney, the Prime Minister, Mr J. A. Lyons, said the Federal deficit would not be more than £1,000,000 in view of the savings made under the Hoover plan. Referring to the Lang Government, he said: “We look forward to the time when this unfortunate tragic Government of yours will have to go to the people of New South Wales. The task of the Federal Government would be utterly hopeless did we not expect that somewhere in the near future you will remove this incubus from New South Wales." Mr Mark Gosling, Chief Secretary of the Lang Cabinet, declared that there was no prospect of the Lang Government being displaced till the end of its term in two years. The State Labour Party was thoroughly united, despite Press propaganda.
