FOUR POUNDS A WEEK.

To the Editor. Sir, —To my mind the writer who signed his letter “Progress” should have signed “Waster,” as there are hundreds about who would be glad to get £4 a week and there are hundreds in this city who have homes of their own and never earned more than four pounds a week and consequently have no rent to pay or very little through studying economy and common sense. A working man with four children should not look for a house at 25/- a week. It is going beyond his means. Pictures and all sports, elaborate houses and other things have stopped a lot of workers from having homes of their own and I hope the electors on polling day will distinguish between the true and counterfeit, progressive and wasters. —I am, etc., WORKER.
