MAN REMANDED FOR OBSERVATION. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, June 23. According to his own explanation having been out of work since October and used up his savings and being unable to live on 2/- per day under the Number 5 Scheme Frederick Stevens, aged 53, to show his disgust and to protest against the Number Five Scheme, broke several windows in Parliament Buildings yesterday. He came up in the Court to-day charged with committing mischief. The Magistrate, Mr Woodward, remanded him for a week for observation, explaining that he wanted to be perfectly sure the man was sane before dealing with him.
