COOL INTRUDERS
SHOP BROKEN INTO. CONSIDERABLE PROPERTY STOLEN. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, December 18. Clothing to the value of several hundred pounds and also two or three pounds in small cash was stolen from the. mercer's shop of Vance Vivian last night or early this morning. The interior of the premises presented a strange sight when one of the proprietors arrived this morning to open the shop, the stock having been thoroughly ransacked. Entrance was gained through the rear of the buildings, a hole being cut in the threeply wall big enough to enable a hand to be inserted and the door-lock turned. On the first floor suits and other clothing were strewn all over the floor. Apparently all the stolen property had been fitted on and the unwanted garments thrown down. Dozens of dinner suits and most of the stock of silk dressing gowns were, taken. A traveller’s sample case which had been left in the building overnight had been used to remove the goods. At the moment it is difficult to estimate the total value of the stolen property.
