FARMERS’ UNION
WOMEN’S DIVISION. MEETING AT GORE. The monthly meeting of the Gore branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held on Saturday. Mrs Stewart presided. Correrspondence regarding the banner presented for the largest number of new members in the year was received from headquarters, also a letter explaining the object of the proposed official paper intended to represent the Farmers’ Union and the Women's Division. A letter was received from Mrs Jackson (Dominion president) thanking the ladies of the division for their gift of a silver cup presented to her for her grandson, the infant son of Mrs W. E. Carter. Members were reminded to send in receipts for the cookery book as soon as possible to the local secretary to be sent on to Dominion headquarters. A donation of £3 3/- was made to the Returned Soldiers’ Association as a token of thanks for the use of the chib room. Mrs W. Milne gave a most interesting address on her recent trip to Australia. From the time the party left Wellington till the return to Bluff the trip was full of interest. Mrs Milne brought, back several books and badges from the Australian country women’s organizations, which are real live bodies. A very hearty vote of thanks was accorded the speaker.
