HOTEL THEFTS
INTRUDER SURPRISED BY BOARDER. (Per United Press Association.) Waipukurau, September 2. At five o’clock this morning a boarder named Walton, at the Tavistock Hotel, was aroued from his sleep to find a man in his bedroom in the act of lifting a gold watch. Walton leaped out of bed and chased the intruder along the passage, but the man disappeared down the fire escape. Later investigation revealed that another boarder named Plestey had £6 taken from a wallet left in his coat in a bedroom.
