The chairman commented on the good attendance, and said that they had had a very good year, and although the low price of wool and other produce was causing anxiety in farming circles there did not appear to be any reason why the ploughing match-should not be gone on with. Annual Report The following report was presented by the secretary:— “The Ploughing Match held last year was an unqualified success and was favoured with a delightful day. As a result a very large number of farmers and others interested were in attendance and witnessed some real first-class ploughing. The match was held in a paddock kindly lent by Mr Walter Blakie and interest was increased by the addition of swamp ploughing. “Entries .were received as follows: Class A, 8 entries; Class B, 2 entries; Class C, 2 entries; Class D, 3 entries; Class E, 5 entries. “It was interesting to note that of the total of 20 entries, the bulk of the competitors - were in the champion and swamp ploughing classes. “The statement of accounts submitted shows a credit balance of £B5. “Whilst the match of last year was not quite the success financially that one would have desired, the resources of the association were not drawn upon to any serious extent. A proposal brought forward after the last match was for the display of new implements at the forthcoming event. It is hoped that in this way added interest will be giver, to this important fixture.” In moving the adoption of the annual report, the chairman said that the reason had been a highly successful one.
