There was a large attendance at the Nightcaps Winter show on Saturday evening, and an auction sale of produce was conducted at the close by Mr. J. C. Miller (Otautau). The sheep-guessing competition was won by Mr. G. Prendeville, who guessed the exact weight, 72}lb. The following special prizes were allotted: Most points in the show, £5 5/- set of cutlery, donated by the Southland Mineowners’ Association, to be won outright: Mrs. Cosgriff 97’. points. Most points in produce, 10/6: Mrs. Njsbet, 144 points. • Most points in butter, 5/-: Mrs. Nisbet. Most points in fruit, 10/6: F. Klemick. Collection of Vegetables: Mrs. Lyons 10/6, F. Klemick 5/-. Following are the points for the £5 5/Callenge Cup, donated by the Southland Coalmine Owners’ Association, awarded to pupils gaining the highest aggregate points in school work, open to all primary schools in Southland, to be held for one year: Waihopai 38\ Nightcaps 27J, Wairio 241, Seaward Downs 22, Winton 104, Galdfield 8, and Riverton Convent 2.
