“THE GLORIOUS AGE”
INTERESTING LECTURES. ' Two lectures were given recently in Riverton and Invercargill by Mr Alderson, of Mataura, who claimed that God’s purpose with regard to the earth and man upon it was revealed in the Scriptures of Truth) specially so in regard to the Jews, of whom it was recorded: “Though I make a full end of all the nations, yet will I not make a full end of you.” The Jews had been a favoured nation, cast off, the Gentiles called in, and now, in the purpose of God, the Jews were coming into their own again, as witness their progress and prosperity in Palestine to-day under the British Mandate. Christ’s second coming was emphasized. The speaker stated that He and He only could cope with the powers that be, restore and maintain order and peace and bring about that state when “every man shall sit under his own vine and fig-tree, and none shall dare to make him afraid.’’ The indication of a worldupheaval when God will shake both the heavens and the earth, were claimed to be visible in the present unrest among all nations, and no better state of affairs could be hoped or looked for until the oppressor of mankind was entirely abolished. “Our Noble Families” and P. McGill’s “Ratpit” were" cited as illustrating conditions that must be done away, along with unemployment and all other forms of social distress. When these things were once taken in hand, and the speaker believed they would ba shortly, then the Glorious Age in the setting up of the Millennial Reign of 1000 years of peace would set in, in deed and in truth.
