WINTON NOTES
RESERVE IMPROVEMENTS. (From Our Correspondent). A meeting of delegates from the Winton Football Club and Athletic Society was held on Friday evening. The object of the meeting was to discuss improvements on the Recreation Reserve. Mr M. J. Forde was in the chair, and Mr W. Bourke secretary. Mr C. Hughes stated that £l5 had been donated by the Jollity Gala for improvements to the recreation reserve. Mr Forde said that a fence was necessary either round the inner ring or round the reserve.’* He stated that the £l5 was available and the Football Club was willing to spend a certain amount on the outside fence. He suggested that the available money be spent on the erection of an outer fence, and then both bodies could combine and work for the other necessary improvements. A number of delegates were in favour of the erection of the outer fence immediately, and finally Mr S. Hagerty moved that the £l5 and if necessary the Football Club's donation be spent on the erection of an outer fence, including a gate and a ticket box. Mr W. Bourke seconded the motion. Mr H. Knight moved an . amendment that £7 of the £l5 be spent on the erection of a fence. Mr H. Earle seconded. The motion was carried by a margin of one vote. Mr Earle said that he was in favour of the £l5 being spent on the erection of the outer fence if the Football Club assured the Athletic Society of assistance afterwards. It was decided to erect a wire fence from the tennis courts to the pavilion and have a picket fence entrance, set in eight feet from the wire fence, the work to commence immediately.
