ANGLING

THE GORE SOCIETY. The monthly meeting of the committee of the Gore District Angling Society was held at the residence of Mr R. Allison on Tuesday evening, Mr O. Howells presiding. It was agreed that the postponed novice competition should be held this week-end, and to postpone the local picnic till the following weekend. The secretary was instructed to write conveying the thanks of the committee to Ihe Southland Acclimatization Society for the prompt manner in which it had responded to requests regarding the stocking of the Waimea Stream and the ladder at the Mataura Falls.

Mr Hugh Halliday, captain of the Gore team which visited Waipahi, reported that the outing had been very enjoyable. The Southland Anglers’ Club forwarded copies of its competition card for distribution among members of the Gore Society.
