PLUNKET SOCIETY
THE GORE BRANCH.
MONTH’S WORK REVIEWED.
At the monthly meeting of the Gore Plunket Society, Mrs D. M. Cochrane presided over the following members of the committee: Mesdames G. S. Finlayson, J. Harper, L. R. Taylor, R. Hamilton and the secretary, Mrs E. G. Wilson. Arrangements for Show Day were finalized, and the secretary reported that Mrs J. Stewart (president of the Women's Division of the Farmers’ Union) and Miss F. McCutcheon (home science mistress of the Gore School) had kindly consented to assist Plunket Nurse Wilson with the judging of the school child’s parcel lunch at the show.
The secretary was instructed to convey to these ladies the thanks of the Gore branch for their valuable services.
A motion of sympathy with Mrs C. R Green in her recent bereavement was carried in the usual manner.
Reference was made to the excellent condition of the grounds surrounding the rest rooms and a very hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr and Mrs R. Hamilton and Mr R. Allison for their generous gifts of annuals and other plants for the grounds. The nurse reported an increase in the number of new cases for the month. Colds had been prevalent. Extra visits had been paid to country cases, thus showing the benefit of the car. The new rest rooms at Wyndham had proved a great comfort and convenience, and were greatly appreciated by mothers and the nurse. The statistics are as follows: Gore—Visits to rooms, 255; to homes, 104; new cases, 16. Mataura—Visits to rooms, 81; to homes, 33; new cases, 2. Wyndham— Visits to rooms, 46; to homes, 4; new cases, 1. Edendale—Visits to rooms, 24; to homes, 10; new cases, 2. Waikaia—Visits to rooms, 10; to homes, 9; new cases, 0.
