POLAR EXPLORATION

EXPEDITION FROM NORWAY.

NO SEARCH FOR NEW LAND.

Oslo, October 10.

Dealing with the comments in foreign newspapers regarding the objects of the Norwegian Antarctic expedition local papers assert that there is no competition as the need for it does not exist. The whaler Norwegia has been conducting scientific explorations for two years, the results of which will be published shortly, and the -work continues, including the study of whales. There is no intention of searching for new land, but if uncharted or unclaimed land is found the Norwegian flag will naturally be hoisted. —Australian Press Association-United States.
