TAWA FLAT TUNNEL

PUBLIC WORKS REPORT. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, July 23. The Public Works Department report in connection with the Tawa Flate railway deviation is that the bottom head of number one tunnel had been completed right through its length of 63 chains. The line and level when the headings met were absolutely correct. It is hoped that this tunnel will be completed within 12 months and that by that time, the heading work in number two tunnel, two miles fifty chains will be complete. It is considered that excellent progress is being made with the work. _____________
