PENSIONS ACT

ALLEGED FALSE STATEMENT. (Per United Press Association.) Dunedin, July 22. At the Police Court, James Whitelaw Ramsay pleaded guilty to making a false statement under the Pensions Act. The police stated that accused was a disabled soldier drawing a pension and was also a superannuated servant of the Railway Deparament, a fact which he failed to disclose to the pensions authorities. Restitution would involve about £6OO. Counsel said accused did not realize that he was liable to disclose what he received from the Railway, which he thought was a refund of his money. The case was adjourned to consider the possibility of restitution being made.
