MYSTERY OF THE SEA
THE MISSING KOBENHAVN.
Cape Town, July 18.
The chief officer of the Mexico and previously skipper of the Kobenhavn, Mr Christensen, considers that when the Kobenhavn drifted and passed Tristan da Cunha an explosion had occurred in the engineroom, which was situated abaft, blowing out the stern post. The islanders watched the vessel drifting for three hours, and it was inexplicable why they had failed to put out. He presumed it was the first time they had seen a sailer. Mr Christensen accepts the theory that the Kobenhavn sank near Tristan, where the sea was very deep, and believes that the cadets were taken off. — Australian Press Association.
