OBITUARY
JOHN LINDSAY.
(Contributed).
By the passing of Mr John Lindsay Southland loses another of l the fine band of men who "blazed the trail” and laid the foundation of all the comforts and conveniences enjoyed by a later generation. The deceased possessed in a marked degree the virtues of energy, thrift, self reliance, and that indomitable courage characteristic of his race. He was a most successful farmer and by unremitting toil and wonderful foresight converted an area of swamp into one of the most productive farms in the province. His motto all through life was that “whatever was worth doing was worth doing well,” and in all the dtails of farm management he was an acknowledged authority. Of a most unassuming and kindly disposition he has left nothing but the kindliest of memories behind him and as a friend and neighbour he will be sincerely mourned by a very wide circle. Of him it can be very aptly said: “He gained the respect of intelligent men and the love of little children; he has filled his niche and accomplished his task; he has left the world better than he found it; he has always looked for the best in others and given the best he had; his life was an inspiration; his memory is a benediction.”
