FAR-REACHING EFFECTS. *■ (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) London, July 20. The largest coal distillation in the world which has started at Glenhoig, Lanarkshire, will consume in the vicinity of 700 tons of coal daily. The extract therefrom will be 20,000,000 cubic feet of gas, 20,000 gallons of oil, and 450 tons of smokeless fuel.
