Though the acclimatisation work of the late Mr G. W. Mclntosh was better known in Otago than in Wellington, his activities in the Wellington district were keenly appreciated by the local society, the annual report of which contains the following: “The late Mr G. W. Mclntosh joined the council in 1926, when taking up his residence in Wellington, but for 35 years was a prominent figure in the acclimatization world in various districts; was president of the Otago Acclimatization Society for some years, and a council member of the New Zealand Acclimatization Societies’ Association at the time of his death. A wise councillor, a genial companion, and a man of strict business integrity, he was held in high esteem, and his place will be hard to fiD.”
