PROGRESS IN EUROPE
IMPORTANT EXTENSIONS FOR SUMMER
BEACONS FOR NIGHT FLYING (United Press Assn.—By TclOErapb-qopyrlght.) (Rec. 9.45 p.m.) London, May 13. Important extensions in the trans-Contin-ental air services included in the forthcoming summer time-tables will amplify and accelerate London’s aerial communications with Europe, ’Asia, Africa and South America, says the aviation correspondent of the Daily Mail. European air-line chiefs are working in conjunction and are now concentrating on the development of night flying, for which beacons marking the main routes will guide the planes to aerodromes lit by million candle-power floodlights. They have also gained much knowledge from the success of the Anglo-Indian air route at present operating with ever-increasing loads of mails, which have almost doubled since its inauguration. Tlie Lufthansa Company is inaugurating a third London-Berlin daily service, enabling passengers to leave London in the afternoon and arrive at Templshofcr by night-time. Three-engined sleeper planes are being placed on the routes plying from Moscow to Madrid. Later, Seville will be the air port for German and Spanish transAtlantic airship mail. The Lufthansa Company is also linking Moscow, via Teheran and Baghdad, with the London-Karachi service.—United Service.
