TO PURCHASE RADIUM
£7OO GIFT TO NORTH CANTERBURY
CANCER ANT) TUBERCULOSIS RESEARCH.
(Ter United I’ress Association.)
Christchurch, April 22.
The North Canterbury Hospital Board received to-day from the trustees of the Travis Bequest the sum of £7OO to be spent on the purchase of radium for the boards radium and deep theraphy department, this sum being the first payment from the bequest for this purpose. It is not yet known how much will be available from the estate for medical research. It is probable that the income will be divided equally between cancer and tuberculosis research and that £7OO represents about half the annual amount that will be available for cancer research.
