PLUNKET WEEK

EASTERN DISTRICT APPEAL. (From Our Correspondent.) For the first time in the history of the Gore branch of the Plunket Society a house-to-house appeal is being made throughout the Eastern District of Southland during the first week in May. It is hoped by the committees of the Gore and sub. branches that Plunket week will become satisfactorily established, thus making but one appeal for funds during the year. The society charges no fees for the Plunket nurses’ services; it knows no class distinction. To the society a baby is a baby, whether cradled in a mansion or entering life in a cottage or slum tenement. It is hoped that as in the past the response to this appeal will be a liberal one to help the mothers and save the babies.
