RAILWAY LINES.

To the Editor.

Sir, —During the recent visit of Sir Joseph Ward, and some three or four other Ministers of the Crown, deputations were the order of the day. Pretty well all the various local bodies made deputations, and all received favourable replies in some shape or form. Now, I’m sure one very important matter has been overlooked, and trust that when Sir .Joseph comes south again in a few weeks time, this matter will be brought before him. The matter I refer to is the completion of the railway line between Winton and Mataura, or Gore. I understand this was the original course this line was to take, and as Sir Joseph says he is going to complete all unfinished lines, I think this would be a golden opportunity to bring this business before him. Trusting the Southland League, assisted by other local bodies, will move in this matter, and do their utmost to have this line completed. —I am, etc., "MOONSHINE.”
