MIDDLE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

To the Editor.

Sir, —To-day’s Times publishes a nomination list for the Middle School Committee together with some remarks suggesting a special interest to be revealed at next. Tuesday’s election. This creates an impression that a definite movement is afoot to oust ■ the present committee. Some grievance against that committee is indicated, and it will be instructive to learn at the election meeting’whose grievance it is and what is its nature. Meantime as an old. resident having direct concern in the Middle School, I should like to say that, during its two years of office, the present committee has been active in the interests of the school, keen to see the pupils provided with the most favourable conditions of welfare and progress, resolute to maintain its rights. If any contrast of its work with that of former committees be instituted, the advantage will most certainly be with the present holders of office. Under these circumstances the parents and householders owe it alike to themselves and to their present representatives on the committee to roll up and vote their approval of the administration of the past two years, as well as their resentment of any external influences that might divert the election from its true purpose.—-I am, C ' l ' PROGRESS. April 19.
