WAIMATUKU RIVER

MEETING OF BOARD. (From Our Correspondent.) A special meeting of the above was held at the residence of Mr McKenzie (chairman), when a deputation waited on the board regarding an extension of the channel. After discussing the matter, it was resolved that the work be proceeded with conditional on the settlers interested guaranteeing repayment of the cost, and that the board was legally authorized to carry out the work. The question was left in the hands of the clerk to inquire and arrange. A deputation of Otahuti settlers also waited on the board with reference to the dredging of the Otahuti stream. It was resolved that Mr Keddell, civil engineer, he instructed to furnish plans, specifications and estimate for dredging seven miles of the stream, the cost of professional charges to be equally borne between the board and settlers outside the river district. It was resolved to recommend Mr C. H. Tucker as representative of lower subdivision- to fill the vacancy caused by the retirement of Mr J. D. Campbell.
