PARLIAMENT

SALARIES OF MEMBERS.

AN INCREASE DESIRED.

(Special to the Times)

Wellington, April 16

During the final session of the last Parliament and again during the first session of the present Parliament, some attention was paid by' members to the question of their own salaries and representations were made both to Mr. J. G. Coates and Sir Joseph Ward, suggesting that the time had arrived when an increase should be made.

So far nothing has been done and it is probable that the question will be raised again during the' approaching session.

The conference of the New Zealand Labour Party held in Wellington during the Easter holidays gave some consideration to the question and a motion was passed that the Labour Party in Parliament should support legislation in favour of increased Parliamentary salaries.
