DEPARTMENT'S OPERATIONS OUTLINED. STATEMENT BY PRIME MINISTER. (Per United Props Association.) Wellington, April 16. An outline of the operations of the State Advances Department from December 111, 1928, to April 16 was given by the Prime Minister (the Right Hon. Sir Joseph Ward) at the annual meeting to-night of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce. Lans to settlers for the period under review, said the Prime Minister, amounted to £1,211,420 and loans to workers to £941,990, malting a grand total of £2,153.410. New’ loan monies added to the Department for that period amounted to £3.012,094 and the balance of loan monies held available for investment was £2,395,544.
