STRIKERS DISPERSED
DEMONSTRATION IN MELBOURNE. (Rec. 9.45 p.m.) Sydney, April 16. Volunteer labour to-day attempted to drive loaded timber jinkers out of Moore’s timber yard at South Melbourne. Mounted police preceded them. Mobs of strikers closed round the jinkers, threw stones and jeered at the police, who charged with batons. The strikers ran in all directions. —Australian Press Association.
